Jury duty calls...

JCK is off having gads of fun. She's been plucked from the multitudes to serve as a good citizen on a jury. JCK hopes to return soon. After she catches up on laundry and dishes and life with a 5 and 6 year old.

BOY & GIRL have been a bit confused. They believed that JCK was on trial.

But, Mommy! It's not fair if they're asking you if you've been bad or good.

Why did they pick you?

Why...why indeed??

Ugh! I just got a summons yesterday, first one of my entire life. And do you know when I'm supposed to report? On the day before the Erma Bombeck Humor Writers' conference, which I have registered to attend, begins. Whatever shall I do?

P.S. Glad you're not the one on trial, though.

What courthouse do you have to report to? If it's Santa Monica, let's have lunch!!

My employer(s) always paid us for jury duty, so for us in a funny way it was a kind of paid vacation...only you have to listen to boring stuff. But the hours are good, you knock off early.

I think getting picked is less boring than not getting picked--have fun!

I hope it goes well -- I served on a jury last August and it was horrendous.

I just got summoned for the first time, too - and I was excited until I realized it's the week after spring break, starting when I have a hard-to-schedule doctor's appointment, and requires me to have sub plans at the ready every night...Argh.

Good luck to you :D
