It's been a bumpy week. BOY came home with a bad headache on Wednesday, and by Wednesday night was vomiting. This continued into yesterday, he couldn't even keep down water. He had been complaining of a sore throat, but I didn't think too much of it since GIRL has a bad cold right now. Then he was actually lethargic, which if you know BOY could never be ascribed to him... His cheeks looked oddly flushed to me, so I checked his torso and he was developing a rash. So, I got him in to see the pediatrician yesterday and...it's strep. They had to give him an anti-nausea injection to stop the vomiting. Lovely. Poor little guy - a shot in the butt. I had to hold him down. Sometimes these things we have to do to keep our children healthy are exhausting... He was such a good sport. Last night he spiked a high temperature, but during the night things turned and he woke up his usual noisy self this morning. Thank GOD for antibiotics when we need them. His full energy isn't back quite yet, but he's definitely on the mend. Two nights of BOY in the bed with us + Momma & Poppa's worry = not much sleep for all. I'm hoping tonight will be restful....

Hope he's 100% soon. We just had our first bout with strep (for our four-year-old) plus Scarlet Fever. Sucked.
ReplyDeleteI'll think restful thoughts for you tonight.
ReplyDeleteStep?!?!
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
hope he's feeling much much better and that you are getting some rest
ReplyDeleteOh not THE SICK. Get well wishes are being sent to your home NOW. :)
ReplyDeleteaw, crap honey
ReplyDeleteBless him and you too. So glad he's doing better. We only had strep once so far (and when I say we I mean the Queen, DeBoy and I all had it at the same time in May of 2008). She broke out in a rash too, and that's how we found out she had strep. Apparently strep gives her an allergic reaction. So now we carry an epi-pen everywhere.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Wishing your kiddos good health and you a very well-deserved good night's rest.
ReplyDeleteI hope he's feeling better now. It's definitely worrisome when our superballs stop bouncing off the walls.
ReplyDeleteWe are on our second case of strep this year and it is no fun. Colleen's body handles it really well but Megan gets hit so hard - just like Boy - high fever, no energy, vomiting. The first couple of days are the worst. Hugs.

Poor Boy. So good he has a loving mom and dad to care for him.
ReplyDeleteMy own husband is feeling ragged this week, and Boy is probably a better patient than he is.
