Fall is my time of year. When the haziness of summer makes way for the crisp new air of beginnings. Yet, I always forget the drama of spring. Stepping outside, overwhelmed by the sensual perfume of orange blossoms, filling my senses with their exquisite scent. And the dance of nature is all around. The birds so stirred up by the approach of spring that they chatter away ...at night. Too excited to sleep.
The days are warmer now, and my blood begins to stir, awakening to the shift of the spring equinox. Even our cat, an old tom at 16, comes to friskiness reserved for kittens - racing about the house as if struck by madness, leaping upon the couch, skidding across the hardwood floors...his fur on end. Suddenly, as if overnight, the riotous color of blossoms are everywhere. And I feel as if I am one of them...

My cats have been utter nutbags for a couple of weeks now, running laps around the apartment on the tops of the furniture, beating the crap out of eachother, being general loudmouths and nuisances. Must be spring!
ReplyDeleteThe little girl I watch and I came outside one day this week and she immediately laid down on the grass, smiling and looking up at the clouds, and she sighed this huge sigh, and remarked, "Don't you just love Spring?" I think we should all surrender to that kind of bliss! The next good day we have, you'll find me in the grass!
ReplyDeleteYou are... without a doubt, you are.
ReplyDeleteOh how I miss the smell of orange blossoms...my favorite scent.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, indeed, you are!
ReplyDeleteSpring keeps coming to visit for a day or two at a time, but she won't stay. Big tease.

ReplyDeleteThe wildflowers whose seeds I scattered nearly 18 years ago are coming in beatifully again this year, never missing a beat.
ReplyDeleteLovely thoughts and artwork. Fall is my favorite, too -- who doesn't love cozy evenings and woodsmoke in the air? -- but there's something about the warmth and freshness and newness of spring that's invigorating. Thank you so much for reminding us of that.
ReplyDeleteEvery evening I float on a cloud of night blooming jasmine and raise a glass to wonder. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteIt's not really spring here yet but we are getting closer. This is exactly how I felt earlier this week when we had sun. I actually woke myself up laughing.. which is completely out of character for me! I don't know what was funny but it made me feel good all day. I love the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to kiss winter good-bye. It was good while it lasted, but I am ready for longer days...
